CAD fragmentation of highly charged peptides/proteins

Hi, this is my first post, here goes;

I've noticed that collisional activation of the most highly charged ions of peptides and proteins often do not yield the most diagnostic fragments. Can anyone offer insight as to why highly charged molecules don't yield as many diagnostic fragments as their less charged counterparts ( ie the 24+ charge state of Myoglobin vs the 16+ charge state?) I have seen several pieces of literature that say "coulombic repulsion" but what does that really mean?
