Easy-spray nanosource from Thermo

Postby Chipsa » Sat Nov 03, 2012 9:27 am

I was wondering if anyone has experience with the Easy-spray nanoESI from Thermo. We're purchasing a QExactive and are currently considering the two options - Easy spray and the "classic" Nanospray FlexIon source.
I'm in particular interested in the following - Obviously, if the emmiter gets blocked, you can throw out the whole column. How prone is the tip towards blocking? is it comparable to classic filled emitters?
Is there any other issue you observe with this source?

Only "issues" i have regarding to this source is the easy of use!! :) I usually struggle to get a stabile spray on the nanoflex it now takes two minutes.. adjust the correct column postion, click in the column and put 1.8 KV spray voltage.. Bang.. 2 % TIC variation!

Only drawback is it isn't possible to use home made columns.. but in my oppinion the easy of use and quality of results way out way that downside.
