Call for Papers for a Special Issue in Journal of Postdoctoral Research: Metabolomics

Postby biswapriya » Fri Dec 19, 2014 9:04 pm

Dear Colleague,

You may be aware of the Journal of Postdoctoral Research; a multidisciplinary and cross-disciplinary publication that is Open Access and free of submission fees. In an attempt to bring more visibility, we are publishing special thematic issues of the journal on current topics. Our current project is a special issue on metabolomics.

Metabolomics involves the study of all small molecules (< 2000 Da; metabolites) from organelles, cells, tissues, organisms, and biological fluids that link the genotype to the phenotype of living organisms. Ranging from the well-studied glycolysis, respiration and citric acid cycle to therapeutic natural products, such as terpenoids, alkaloids and polyketides, metabolomics provide helpful insights on organism metabolism, behavior, and regulation, which in turn control growth, maintenance, and survival. At the Journal of Postdoctoral Research, we wish to assemble your metabolomics contributions in the form of a Special Issue.

We invite you and members of your research group to submit articles for the upcoming special issue. The articles may be, but are not limited to, Reviews, Mini-Reviews, Commentaries, Opinion Pieces, Case Reports, Full Research Papers, Technological Advances, and Brief Communications on recent advances, technologies, and methods in the areas of biomedical, animal, plant, and microbial metabolomics. Articles highlighting recent advances in theoretical, experimental, and application aspects are welcome. They can focus on sample preparation and extraction; data processing; data handling and storage; instrumentation; chromatography and separation (GC, LC, HPLC, CE, 2D); mass spectrometry (MS, MS/MS, MSn, ToF); spectroscopy (FTICR, NMR, MALDI); hyphenation; environmental high-throughput approaches; single-cell analysis, integration with other –omics; model organisms; clinical and diagnostics biomarker discovery; statistical analyses; databases; system biology; flux; reporting standards; metabolic engineering; metabolite profiling; informatics; pathway and network analysis; and computational aspects of metabolomics.

Contributions from your coworkers, colleagues, friends, and collaborators are welcome. The deadline for manuscript submission is February 15, 2015, with an intended publication date towards the end of March, 2015. Please submit your articles by email to All manuscripts will be peer-reviewed according to the policy of the journal; there are no limits on number of words, number of images, and tables as long as they are integral to the manuscript. Instructions for authors are available at I do hope that you will be able to accept this invitation. Please let me know if you would like to contribute to this Special Issue and the title of your contribution, preferably by January 15, 2015. Submitted papers should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere. We also encourage authors to send their title and a short abstract to the editorial office for approval.

Thanks for considering this invitation. We look forward to your participation.
